The Padel Insider

Babolat is a French sporting goods company founded in Lyon in 1875, originally as the world's first manufacturer of natural gut strings for tennis rackets. The brand entered padel in the early 2020s, building its lineup around Juan Lebrón, one of the sport's most dominant players and a former world number one on the Premier Padel circuit. The Viper and Veron families cover the full range from pro-level attack diamonds to accessible all-round teardrops and control rounds.

Babolat's padel rackets are built around the Carbon Flex face technology, a carbon and fiberglass hybrid that increases dwell time and reduces arm stress compared to stiffer full-carbon alternatives. The core material is EVA-based across the range: X-EVA in the Viper line for a firmer, more explosive response, and Black EVA in the Veron line for a softer, more comfortable feel. Both lines use the Vibrasorb damping system in the handle and throat to absorb residual vibration.

The 3D Spin surface texture appears across most models, providing bite for slice and topspin without dominating the racket's character. Higher-tier SKUs add the Dynamic Stability bridge, a structural insert at the throat that reduces torsion on off-center hits and widens the effective sweet spot. Babolat publishes limited technical specifications compared to some rivals, which means face carbon grade and exact balance figures often require cross-referencing independent reviewers.

Technologies

Carbon Face

Carbon Flex

Hybrid weave of carbon fiber and fiberglass that adds elasticity to the face. Softer ball feel and longer dwell time than full carbon, at some cost to raw output.

Core Foam

X-EVA

Multi-layer EVA foam core used in the Viper line. Density varies by layer for a firm, powerful response with a degree of vibration absorption.

Black EVA

Medium-density EVA core used in the Veron line. Softer and more forgiving than X-EVA, tuned for comfort and accessibility over raw power.

Surface

3D Spin+

Raised three-dimensional texture on the face that adds grip for spin shots, particularly slice volleys and cut bandejas. Effective on fresh paint; reviewers note it wears faster than some rival surfaces.

Frame

Dynamic Stability

Structural bridge at the throat that reduces torsion on off-center hits and enlarges the effective hitting zone, particularly on diamond-shaped frames.

Handle

Vibrasorb

Elastomer insert in the handle and throat area that damps vibration on contact. Keeps arm fatigue lower over long matches.
