The EOS Flap cut in the throat and the way the mass sits high but not extreme means I can get the face round in time to block hard bajadas and lift a globo from behind the service line without feeling late. On the salida de pared, the frame tracks the ball cleanly and I can take it early with a flat volea rather than resorting to a full defensive lob. Where the pala shows its diamond nature is on those emergency stretched retrievals, the small sweet spot punishes you fast if the contact drifts toward the throat or the tip, and the ball dies in the net. Keep the shoulders quiet, hit the middle, and it defends better than the shape suggests.

Volleys & Net Play
This is where the raw 12K face earns its keep. The rugosa surface is genuinely toothy and it grabs the ball on the slice volea, giving me a low, skidding reply that sits at the opponent's feet instead of floating up. Flat blocks require a shorter, quieter arm because the stiff face rebounds quickly and the ball can leak long if I try to add anything to it. On the víbora at net height and the short chiquita off a weak middle ball, the combination of grip and head weight is close to ideal, I can carve underneath and roll a short angle without the pala pushing back. Doble pared exits invite an attacking cut volley rather than a safe reset, and that changes the tempo of the point in my favour.

Overheads & Smashes
The sweet spot sits noticeably higher than the standard Genius 12K and that extra tip presence pays off on overheads. Víbora is the shot I keep coming back to, the roughness bites on the outside of the ball, produces genuine sidespin and the pala carries enough head mass to punch it through the pared and out the back glass. Bandeja is controlled and repeatable when I stay compact. Where the pala is honest about its limits is the pure flat smash for the winner, it does not have the sheer mass of an 18K attack sibling, so full demolition attempts either sail or come back playable. Adding the 4g head weights closes some of that gap and gives the ataque more finishing bite.

Spin generation is the identity of this pala. The 12K aluminised weave is aggressively rough and it stays that way through several sessions before I notice any polish. The face is stiff and dry, so a dejada requires deliberate hands, you cannot rely on the core to swallow pace for you. Once I trust the grip and open the face early, the drop shot from mid-court is precise, but this is not a pala that rewards half-committed touches from the back of the pista.

The removable 2g and 4g head weights are the standout feature, I can move balance from around 270mm up towards 278mm and change the character from tunable ataque to committed finisher. SmartRap wrap on the handle keeps the grip stable through long sets, and the octagonal butt cap sits comfortably against the heel of the hand. The impact feel is dry and stiff, which I like for feedback, but players with a history of elbow or shoulder trouble should test before committing.

This is a specialist pala for a specific player. If you are an advanced attacker who lives at the net, hunts víboras off the pared and wants a diamond that does not lock you out of quick exchanges, the Xtrem gives you a rare blend of agility and spin bite. The tunable balance is not a gimmick, it genuinely changes the pala's brief between two sessions. What it will not do is protect a raw beginner or reward a lazy swing. The sweet spot is small and high, the frame is unforgiving on mishits, and the arm feel is dry. Come with clean mechanics and a spin-first game plan, and it is one of the more interesting attack diamonds of the 2026 cycle.
