Pulling this pala back to my own glass is where the compromise announces itself. The high balance and heavy head slow my hand off the bounce, and low balls off the pared trasera need a full swing to travel back with any depth. The bloque de defensa works cleanly enough when I meet the ball early, but any late contact off the doble pared feels labored and short. I lean on chiquita and low globo more than I would with a rounder frame, using placement to buy the extra step I do not get from swing speed.

Volleys & Net Play
At the net the story splits. On volea de ataque with time to load, the frame drives balls deep into the corners with real weight behind them. Reflex block voleas are the harder ask. The head-heavy build wants to arrive rather than react, and quick exchanges above shoulder height demand that I keep the racket up and shorten the punch. The stiff face gives clean, predictable rebound on firm contacts and mutes the low-input touch that a softer control core would return. Poaching from the middle is a strength when I can commit to the swing early.

Overheads & Smashes
This is where the pala earns its brief. The 18K aluminized carbon face over a dense diamond mold generates the kind of exit velocity that finishes points off a single contact. Flat smash out of the court flies with authority, and the víbora carries the cut and speed that Tapia built the profile around. Bandeja stays workable if I trust the swing and let the head do the work, but I keep the arc higher than usual to avoid dumping short. The bajada is a real weapon here, and the ataque phase is the whole reason to reach for this frame in the first place.

Spin and Touch
The Dual Spin surface, a 3D relief laid over a silica-sand grit, digs into the ball on any brushed contact. Topspin drives from the back of the court arrive with real dip, and cut shots skid off the pared with a bite that keeps opponents from stepping in. Touch is the trade. Soft hands into a dejada or a short chiquita feel muted through the stiff face, and I have to add more feel with the wrist than I would on a softer control shell. Slice bandejas and cut viboras are where the surface pays for itself.

Ergonomics and Technologies
The Weight Balance System is a genuine feature rather than a marketing line. The interchangeable counterweights let me nudge the head-heaviness up or down to match the day and the partner, which matters on a frame this specialized. The MLD Black EVA core adds a thread of elastic return under an otherwise stiff face, keeping the pala from feeling completely dead on contact. The photochromic paint and finish details are handsome without being loud. Arm load is real: this is not a frame for players carrying elbow or shoulder history, and a proper warm-up is not optional.

Overall Verdict
I would pick this pala for one profile and one profile only. Advanced attackers with clean, repeatable technique who live in the ataque phase and want to end points from above the net will find a tool that rewards the swing. The sweet spot sits high and small, the swing weight is uncompromising, and the touch game asks more of the hands than a softer frame would. Meet those terms and the ball leaves the strings with genuine violence on smash, víbora, and bajada. Miss them and the pala punishes fast. Reach for it when the plan is to finish, not to rally.
